Work With Me!

I’ve never heard of fertility coaching before – what is it?

Fertility coaching provides super-specialised support for the fertility journey.  Unlike your dear friends who struggle to understand where you are at and are either too awkward to talk to you about what you are going through or offer you the story of their sister’s, boyfriend’s cousin’s miracle conception under the banyan tree; a fertility coach has a deep understanding of the path you are on and can give you practical advice on how to navigate it.  Just for the record I totally believe in miracles – just want them to happen in a concrete way for you!

Time with a fertility coach can focus on what is important to you. This isn’t another clinical appointment where you have to absorb loads of technical information; sign a ton of paperwork and get out of the office as quickly as possible because there is a queue of other people waiting.  Each coaching session allows you time and space to process information and to think about your next steps.

What is it like to work with you?

I look beyond the clinical aspects of your infertility to the bigger picture.  Your medical team have got the science-bit and I will help you take care of everything else – and that everything else is pretty huge!  My experience as a therapist, coach and woman who knows what it is like to ache for a baby will help us to hit the ground running as we look to connect and develop a plan to enable you to bring your A-game.

I work 1 to 1 with clients, initially for 6 sessions via skype, phone or in person if we are neighbours!  Working through a combination of conversations, visualisations and body meditation, you will get emotional support and practical advice about all the aspects of your fertility treatment - from sharing resources via pintrest to create your own vision board right down to transfer day outfit advice and my own magic knicker trick!

What evidence is there that this works?

Expert research has confirmed how effective fertility coaching can be.  For example, a study published in the Journal of Behavioural Medicine (20: 4) reported that participants in a support programme were more likely to have a child at 18 months after their coaching than those who did not receive the support.

Personal experience bears this out.  I am delighted to have worked with amazing women who have gone on to have successful pregnancies.

This sounds right up my street - when is the right time to start fertility coaching?

I work with women at all stages of their fertility journey – from “um, I might be thinking about having a baby some time in the future” to “I really need some help, I’m not sure I can face another IVF cycle”.  Contact me today and we can make a plan to get you from crying in the toilets at your friend’s baby shower to crying for joy as the second blue line appears!

Let's do it!

Before working with Emma, I knew that I had a problem with my fertility but didn’t have the courage to confront or explore it. With her care and gentle guidance to help me find my way, I was able to become more in touch with my body and my mind, enabling me to take the steps I needed to manage my fears. Throughout the time I worked with her, I felt in control of the process and was able to explore whatever came up knowing that she would support me all the way… I am pleased to say that I gave birth to my wonderful daughter as a direct result of embarking on this journey with Emma, and went on to have a beautiful boy two years later.  I wish you all the best in your fertility journey, and highly recommend having Emma along with you - Lisa

I’m Dr Emma Brodzinski (PhD).  After 14 years of being an arts-in-health researcher, therapist and coach, I started this business because I am passionate about minimising the stress around fertility.  I know from the inside just how difficult it can be.  My own fertility journey found me inventing excuses to avoid friends who were pregnant; midnight googling sessions to try and work out if that twinge I was feeling was a good thing or bad sign; and sobbing into the jasmine green tea that I was only drinking because it was supposed to be good for me.

What I learnt from it all was the importance of being kind to myself.  Don’t worry, I am not going to tell you to relax and it will happen (in fact, I totally give you permission to sucker-punch anyone who does say that to you!) but I am going to invite you to take it easy on yourself and bring in a whole bunch of self-compassion and self-care.  Not only it that a nicer way to go through all that you are facing at the moment; it is also brilliant nurturing practice for when your baby/ies arrive.

As a fertility coach my main job is to be in your corner.  You can guarantee that I won’t judge you for having a meltdown.  I am there to support you through the rollercoaster that is infertility and to offer ideas and techniques that can help you stay true to the self that you were before all this craziness began.

I recognise that everyone has their own perspective on fertility.  You may have suffered many losses; you may be a single woman going through this experience on your own; you may be part of the LGTBQ community - you may be all three!  My person-centred approach means that I meet you where you are and we go forward from there together.
